Marie Osmond Blames Dancing with the Stars Loss on Age and Drama

Unlike the graceful and respectful exits by the previously eliminated celebs on this season's Dancing with the Stars, Marie Osmond, couldn't help but make excuses as she addressed the judges after not making the final two pairings.

Marie Osmond/ Jonathon RobertsMarie Osmond/ Jonathon RobertsMarie, who claims to always have a positive outlook, was nothing short of a sore loser when she blamed last night's loss on her age (48) and the struggles she's been dealing with over the last few months (the death of her father and her son's struggles in rehab).

And while other competitors were also facing difficulties in their personal lives, not all of them decided to play their sympathy cards - at least not according to Mel's partner, Maksim.

"Frankly, I think there were a lot of other people better than Marie," Maks told Extra.

"I know firsthand there are a lot of celebrities on the show that went through similar situations [family issues] this season and decided not to make it public."

But despite her endless excuses, the most shocking part of Marie's elimination was when she insulted the judges by referring to herself as Cinderella, and Carrie Ann, Lenny and Bruno as the wicked step-sisters.

Get over yourself, Marie. You lost because you weren't good enough. Simple as that.

What did you think of Marie's elimination?

I can't believe she didn't get kicked out earlier. She was lucky to even been in the final three. She basically got a free pass when her dad died. Who knows, if she would have competed she might have been out instead of Jane. She annoys me to no end. And how come wherever Marie is, there's her brother either right beside her or lurking in the background somewhere. Does anyone else find it a tad creepy?

I thought Marie was over confident from the get-go. The last few shows she showed America her true colors. Going on every show with her brother crying the blues literally begging for sympathy votes. Maybe she and Donny should look back and seriously judge her performances ...if "they" can look beyond "themselves" they may realize she didn't technically deserve to be in the final three. She's a sore loser!!!! She considers herself a famous doll maker..she's so full of herself..she and her brother were a tad obnoxious.

I don't understand how Marie's exit was not graceful. Yes, she addressed the judges, but it was in a very lighthearted, joking way -- and they were laughing out loud at it. I agree the comments on Monday were not entirely appropriate, but personally, I think she represented herself very well through most of the competition. I never heard her blame her exit on age or her problems.

Overall I did enjoy Marie's performences this season, but I do think she pushed the age factor a little too often. As far as the drama goes, I really don't know if the fainting spell was real or not, but losing her father in the middle of this competition had to be hell. And as far as Donny is concerned, they have always been extremely close, and I thought it was nice to see him sitting there supporting his sister every week. I think her comments to the judges on Monday really were not insulting. After all, think of some of the things they said to her after her performances. They could be taken as insults too but she always took the criticism with grace. She pulled out all her stops and went for the win(without cheating). That's what competition is all about. She was fun to watch on the show and did a pretty good job.

I am a firm supporter of Marie, Donny and her family. I think she did very well and was not insulting the judges, just being herself, a wonderful, funny person. And the fainting was indeed real! She explained it on Larry King Live. But she's a real trooper, and I'm sorry she didn't win.

There is such a backlash against Marie, I have to question what's up: the accusation that her fainting was fake (by "unnamed" sources), the trashing by Maksim (now there's a class act). That this is part popularity contest---well, duh! If it were about the best dancer, then Joey Fatone would've won. If that upsets Maksim or his fans, then maybe the whole audience voting part should be eliminated (and watch the viewership go down, down, down). Of course, age has something to do with it. At 48, you can't do the same things someone in their twenties. Maybe DWTS should have an age limit or a different category for older contestants. I just find it incredibly disingenous that they have older contestants (Florence Henderson will be next season) and penalize these folks for not being young. How stupid. And for that matter, I think that non-performing types should get extra points (like Helio). It's a lot easier to perform in public when you do that for a living. But this trashing of Marie Osmond--how about someone grow a pair and admit to be the one who "saw" her faking the faint. I hate all of this anonymous slander.

Melissa or is it Marie O? Get over yourself.

She never could dance, she always was stiff and seemed to stop and wait for her partner to come to her and pick her up. Yeah I know her age blah blah, I was embarrassed for her when she came out dressed like a doll. I was just shocked she made it as far as she did.

that was so bad that whole doll thing, omg, embarrassing is an understatement and I thought she went backwards in that performance, completely bad, all bad

Marie Osmond showed her true colours increasingly as the show went on. She topped it with her unsportsmanlike, disgraceful exit. Hard to believe she used to be America's sweetheart. It's heartening to know that so many have finally caught on - the 'lady' is a phoney.

Why do people get so much out of putting other people down. Does it make you feel good. It only makes you look bad. Say something nice or don't say anything at all. I know Marie is classy enough not to read all this uncalled for negativity toward her. Thank you Marie and Donny for making DWTS this season the best one yet!!!

I've been sooooo busy I had no way of knowing much more than the Osmond false humility act on Dance and Entertaiment Tonight, Insider and etc. Soooo it does me good that my fellow citizens of the world caught the many mindf___ing portrals of the skilled-at-phoney sincerity they have worked this world over with for far too long. Were they planning a made for TV Osmond reality show. It's going to be real interesting when we all snicker while poor 'lil 'ole Marie apoligizes for her so disappointing classless spoiled Cinderella brat reality shared with the world because of the stress (Donny tears up and drops his head while cuddling the snauty sister) her son in rehab and her father now reunited wherever with his wife. (Donny tears up somemore and Marie plays brave as she expresses even more false humility - afterall everyone makes mistakes, right?

Well lets start at this. Marie didn't make it public about her fathers passing but the mainstream media did. This was a man at the head of one of the best known musical families in the world so no matter what it was going to be made public. Her sons problems were made public by Larry King unsuspecting to Marie. These are not excuses, this is "LIFE" and it just happen to come about while DWTS was on. So trying looking at the facts before stating your case. As for Maksim whatever his name is, its not for him to decide who makes it and who doesn't... with all his hi fives and hugs and kisses for Marie and Jonathon he certainly show his back stabbing abilitites. Marie trained just as hard as the other contestants and wasn't as good but had more heart and guts and a bigger fan base. She is a great entertainer and those two combination's got her where she was not pitty.

I love Dancing with the Stars, but I'm glad it's over so the Osmonds will crawl back under the rock they have been under for the last 20 years! I'll hand it to them, though...they (especially Donny) sure found a way to capitalize on Marie being in the competition. They are sure very full of themselves. Maybe they can change the show at their theatre in Branson, MO to be "Dancing with the Osmonds"... now that would be a hoot!

I only saw her dance a few times as I didn't watch the show all the time. I've been a fan of hers for years and more so of Donny. To tell the truth, I didn't think her dancing was that great. Not good enough to get her down to the last three. As for the family being there, so what. They were supporting her, as any family might do. They just happen to be well known. You can't fault them for that.
