David Hernandez vs. Antonella Barba – Who has the Bigger Idol Scandal?

If American idol contestant David Hernandez has any trouble dealing with the negative press from his former career as a stripper, he may want to call on last year's contestant Antonella Barba for a little support - after all, she's experienced this type of turmoil first hand as well.

Last season, Antonella was a finalist on the hit reality TV show when a series of racy photos (including ones of Barba partaking in sexual activities) were released to the public. Antonella defended herself on a number of occasions, claiming the photos were personal and were never meant to go public.

This year, Idol hopeful David Hernandez is also struggling with negative media attention, as news of his former career as a male stripper sent shockwaves through the media this week.

So who has the bigger American Idol scandal - David or Antonella?

Do you think either contestant deserved to be eliminated from the competition because of their actions - or do you think that their pasts have nothing to do with their futures?

That's a tough question. While I think that Antonella's are trashier because she's so young and pretended to be so innocent, David actually made a career of his, which makes him pretty sleezy too. As for the quesiton about whether or not they should be eliminated, I don't think anyone who takes photos of themseleves like Antonella or strips like David should be considered an "idol" for young children of America. They can't seriously choose someone like that to win, can they?

I understand that some people live in circumstances where they have to do things for money that no one should ever have to do in their lives but that doesn't make it okay. On the other hand, what you do in your past shouldn't stop you from trying to be the best you can be in the future, so I give them credit for trying out anyways. I think Antonella's were trashier than David's, perhaps because Antonella came frm a wealthy family and can afford to be a better person. I don't know David's story so I cant jusge that, but I don't respect someone's decision to become a stripper.

They're both trashy. Antonella's is more memorable because she is a female...but that doesn't make David's actions any more acceptable than Antonella;s. Are these really the types of people we want to represent America? I don think so.

Are people really talking about "representing" America here? Seriously? David's prior career choices are just that: prior choices. He's not doing it anymore. He's trying to make a name for himself with his voice. And anyway, we have enough bozos to represent America. Britney Spears doesn't do us any justice, but she's on the front page every day. At least David can sing.

I think everyone should be given a second chance and not be judged by what happened in the PAST, after all, if we were to judge everyone by what they did in the past, I'm pretty sure everyone would be at fault one way or another.

I don't think cutie pie David should have been voted off because of his past...raise your hand if you've never made mistakes or have something you are not necessarily proud of! The guy can sing and it's a singing competition!!

What's David doing here anyways? He knows very well that he couldn't get away from his past job. I really like him and thought he is one of the best singers this season. My concerns is that he uses the idol show and the presses to heat up his popularity? Yes, he hits the right target, and he is in the head news every where. To me, no matter he wins or loses the idol title, I still don't think he could have beccome a singer. I don't think a record dealer would risk their chance making David a singer. My question is what is next for him?

well, i think that they shouldn't be taken out from the Ai because of their past activities. probably they joined the american idol so that they could change whatever they have done "wrong" in the past (dont you think that way?) WELL, if you guys just wanted to destroy their dreams, better look into the mirror first and understand yourself rather than discriminate other peoples lives. (GOD THEY WANTED TO CHANGE, let them be)
