Dancing with the Stars Elimination – Marie Should Have Went Home!

Marie Osmond: Joe Major / WENNMarie Osmond: Joe Major / WENNI'm starting to wonder why the producers promote this show as a dancing competition. If last night's episode was any indication, this reality series is a popularity contest and nothing else.

Last night, Jennie Garth and her partner, Derek Hough, were eliminated from the competition because they didn't receive enough votes from the fans. It was clear going into last night's show that Marie was a severe underdog after the judges gave their scores (she received 56/60 while Jennie got 58/60) but she seemed to squeeze through the cracks once again.

What I can't understand is how she has so many fans. I know that her family probably constitutes most of her votes (how pathetic) but I just can't understand why she's still in the competition. Her animated facial expressions make me cringe every time she hits the dance floor and her "dance moves" remind me of 45-year-old woman in a 17-year-old girls dance class. Carrie Ann has it right on the money when she calls her a cougar.

And was it just me or did the judges kind of imply that they thought Marie should have been sent home as well?

When Tom asked the judges what they thought of Helio and Jennie in the bottom two, Lenny said that neither of them should be in the bottom two because they weren't the worst dancers on the show.

After this week's results from DWTS and The Bachelor, I might just retire from watching reality TV.

Who do you think should have been eliminated last night?

Marie may be older but that's no reason to say she can't have fun. I think she's doing a good job even though she's not the best.I'm surprised she's made it this far.Have fun Marie this should be your last week.

unfortunatly i think marie will win the competition...not because she is the best dancer..because she is not..but because she has all the votes..this show is not a dance competition anymore, it has turned into a popularity competition instead..which is sad...the show needs to give the judges more say as to who can stay and who should go and the audiance maybe a 20 percent say to make it fair. i hate how this has changed from being a great show to having someone who dances like my 3 yr old with poses in between her very few dance steps. she has fans because of her family, selling dolls and the whole dang mormon community..its a sad truth..

I agree - the judges opinions should carry more weight - Marie has appeared on Oprah, Larry King, etc. etc. getting her face out there. I don't see her as a sweet little Osmond - she is a competitive barracuda, more interesting in winning than learning - she works to win and she is the only dancer who has not given tremendous credit to her pro partner. Its always, I, I, I - someone must have pointed that out to her last night, because she said "I - uh - WE have come this far...." and yes, Len did indicate that the remaining dancers were not the best dancers. I love this show, but if Marie wins, that's quits for me.

What a rude article considering Dancing With the Stars is quite frank scoring is both judges and fan votes. Of course pesonality plays into voting and Marie best entertained overall. Garth may have got more dance steps correct but a long shapely bread roll surely would be as entertaining as the shapely but timid personality she let show through on the dance floor (her last dance the only relaxed one she gave). It takes a lot of things to entertain when dancing and obviously fans and viewers like Osmond's cougar personality. Garth should have gone last night and although a huge Marie fan I'd then agree unless Marie really steps up the dance technique rightfully she'll be next to go. So thats your correct pecking order given class, style, personality along with the dancing and why those judges aren't always correct to vote for us watching via television for complete dance entertainment not just fancy dancing. It isnt dancing pro's we tune in for. Thats another show.

Many of these shows are becoming popularity contests. Have the American Idol winners been the best singers. The best singers don't even get to be seen by the 3 judges. But that is another story. You can vote a multitude of times for the person you want and the only "reality" is that it makes good money for Verizon and the other cell phone companies.

I think that Helio should have gone home-he doesn't do a thing-Julianne does it all He is not a star he is a race car driver and Marie deserves to win she is a great dancer and all around performer.

Marie should have been long gone. She manipulates family circumstances to get the support she can't get through talent. (or lack thereof) Honestly, do they have to show Donnie in the audience sobbing, cheering, or whatever? Give me a break she even used her brothers as a prop last week! This show needs to get back to having people vote based on dance, not theatrics. She is the "Sanjaya" of Dancing With The Stars!!

Marie has a lot to offer, but she should not be in the finals. She is clearly the weakest link in the competition and has been for a while. She seems to be inspiring a lot of her fans and people that don't see this as a dance competiton. I agree with the article. It's time for the producers to decide if this show is going to be a dance competition or a popularity contest. Until this season, it was a dance competition. But since the brilliant Sabrina Bryan was voted off, the lines have been completely blurred. We need some clarity here -- for the continued credibility of the show!!

soooo pissed Jennie went home. Now I am voting for Helio. For someone with no experience in musicality, choreography, and live performance he is doing a GREAT JOB. Go HELIOOOOOOOOOOO

Go Helio, Go Helio, Go Helio!

Marie should have gone home, she's sooo phony. She's playing on being a star for all these years, and her brother should butt out,she should have gone before Sabrina. Go Heliooooo & Julianne, for someone who has never done dancing he's amazing. If Marie wins I won't waste my time watching DWTS anymore. It's fixed

how can marie still be still left there and sabrina not i agree its fixed and marie will win and that would be appauling since she shouldnt be there all i have to say is sabrina should be there instead of marie.

Since the public is obviously not watching the dancing before they vote, maybe DWTS should do away with the dancing altogether and let the public vote for who they think is the nicest.

Marie has been milking it in every way she can. Yes, we all KNOW you have 8 kids, we all KNOW you are in your 40's -- she is trying to get the "older" women's vote as well as every mother's vote out there based on those comments alone. And is it fair that Donny on Entertainment Tonight is predicting the demise of all the other contestants besides his sister? How many other celebrities have a sibling commentating and able to bash the other celebs? I cannot believe she was on Larry King Live all smiles when her dad just died, plus on the show, again, with that huge grin. C'mon, get human. If Marie wins this, the show is over for me next season. If it is proven that the best dancer who worked hard to win ends up not winning and Marie, the one that has all the dancing skills of a mop wins, it's over for me.
Disapointed! (not verified)
Prior to the the Finals of DWTS I realy respected Marie Osmond but after the final performances she really blew it. Her lack of respect for the judges comments proves that she's not the sweet Marie that we all should feel sorry for. As for the "world famous doll maker" and "give me a break I'm over 50" remarks it was enough for me to say "give us a break and just go home and make some more world famous dolls and get richer while us poor slobs try to make ends meet. Really- feel sorry for her?
