American Idol’s David Hernandez and Ramiele Malubay Spark Controversy!

American Idol is supposed to be a television show where run of the mill men and women try out to become the next biggest thing in the music industry.

Unfortunately, for the past few years, the show has been earning more publicity from racy lesbian-like photos and questionable pasts (like those of this season's David Hernandez and Ramiele Malubay) than it does for actual talent.

In this day and age, especially if you think that one day you might want to become the next American Idol, for god's sake don't take lesbian-like photos of yourself with your girlfriends and don't make a career out of stripping for cash.

One of this year's most promising contestants, David Hernandez, made headlines this week as his former career as a stripper was exposed.

The manager at a male strip club in Phoenix claims that the 24-year-old AI finalist performed naked at the establishment for a total of three years, ending in September of 2007.

Meanwhile, other American Idol finalist Ramiele Malubay has a scandal all her own.

Remember the racy photos of Antonella Barba that surfaced last year? Well there's another contestant who likes to flash her tatas in front of the camera, but at least Ramiele kept her clothes on.

Photos of Malubay with two female friends surfaced recently, where the friends are holding Ramiele's knockers as they pose for a picture. While perhaps not the most respectable photos, Ramiele's photos are nothing compared to Antonella's scandal last year and certainly don't compare to David's past as a male stripper.

I think the contestants should be ordinary young men and women, if they have had a questionable past, then they are not to be on American Idol, I for one, think I will stop watching Idol for these reasons. I can see where Idol is becoming more and more sleazy as the years go on, and that's not why I watch it, to hear about male strippers, lesbian photos, or naked photos, etc. Tell someone at Idol to get a grip on this. As it is now, they have lost some of their viewers.

I think the contestants should be allow to continue on unless there is a clause in the contracts that prohibits them from participating due to racy photos, working in strip clubs, etc...I will not judge anyone on what they did in their past. It's what you are doing to change and make things better yourself. People, remember we are human and make dumb mistakes...especially our younger generation. It's how we learn from our mistakes and past that can make us a better person. Overall, we will always have controversy thanks to the wonderful world of media and idiots who are out to ruin other people over jealousy or money for a news article...

Of the four "scandals" that of Ramiele is the least likely to haunt her. Her fooling-around photos are sooo common in MySpace, Facebook, Multiply and Friendster accounts.

hello. whatever their past is, if thy got the talent why should we prohibit them to join american idol. anyways, all of us have made mistakes before, and i know for a fact that all of us learn from them- intentionally or unintentionally.

The things you mention shouldn't matter. If they were seial killers then I'd be worried. Look at all the tv sitcoms re: gay people now suddenly everyone wants to get on the bandwagon and stop gay celebrities from succeeding. I'm not gay but I'm not going to sit here and ruin someones life over it. I'm not going to sit here and watch others do it either. Who shouldn't be allowed to stay are the ones who can't sing like tattoo lady and Michael Johns and Kristy they all should have never made the top 24 to begin with. Sending David home was a slap in the face and discrimination. Now you want to try to spoil our minds with racy photos big deal; we can't turn on a tv w/o racy commercials and what not on the tube. Let 'em sing and for petes sake let us VOTE who stays and who GO's. Stop playing with our emotions!

Why do you put us through all of this? First you let all the stupid people stay in the competition and get rid of all the talented singers. Then you try and dig up as much trash about the remaining contestants whom you chose to put through in the first place. If it's going to be our American Idol, then, let us do the voting. Get your fingers out of the cookie jar! I bet if we wanted to, we could pull up tons of garbage about the judges but they would still get to be the judges. The one's who shouldn't be allowed to stay are the ones who have previous experience and have had recording contracts. I thought this was about raw talent. Amanda had a DUI but you let her stay and it was current according to AP wire. You go after David H. and pick on David A. Now Ramiele..get over yourselves and let them compete. Why do the judges critique Ramiele so much. She has an awesome voice and is Awesome but they never say anything good about her. This will just give them the edge they want to get finally rid themselves of her. I could see David H. was worried/nervous last night. Poor guy. You get them all happy; let them taste hollywood feed them the dream and then snatch it away from all over B.S. The real problem here are the judges who never make a bit of sense and the executives who really hold the power over these lives in the palms of their hands. Who do you people think you are anyway and how the heck do you live with yourselves! You forget how lucky you are to even be sitting in those judges chairs in the first place. LOSERS! Go Get 'em David H.!! Woo Hoo!

Well let's see what happens tomorrow on AL. Not sure I even want to watch it. I'm so disgusted with the whole thing. This is America why do people have to be so cruel just so they can succeed in life and help those they choose to succeed. The real talented people have to work the hardest to succeed. It's the same in all walks of life. It's either who you know or who likes you. Sickening isn't it. Mediocrities everywhere
