I'm only sixteen and i am lucky enough to have seen Jeff Healy perform twice. The first time i saw him perform was at his bar in toronto. My dad was telling me all about him and that he was going to be playing some jazz, being 15 at the time and listened to nothing but rock'n'roll i was quite optimistic. By the end the show i was entranced in the music it was absolutely the best. Then just this past summer i watched him perform, this time he was playing some blues, it was at my city's Water Front Festival i brought about six of my freind's as soon as i heard that Jeff Healy was going to be playing. Also like me friends didn't listen to another other kind of music but rock'n'roll, i told them that that's what he was going to be playing but really i knew that he was going to be playing blues. As soon as my friends heard it they all sighed and said they hated blues, and i told them to just wait and listen a while. In the end my friends ended up enjoying themselves. That night he played AC/DC's Thunder Struck and played it with a blues twist, and made it that much better. Jeff Healy really opened up my eyes to other types of music other than just rock'n'roll. Then just this winter my band played a show at a local bar, some of my band memebers were there that day,in the summer, and we played two of Jeff Healy's songs that night in our set. Today is truly a sad day in the world of music to lose such a great musician, and for my friends aswell as me a great insperation. He will be greatly missed. My prayers for his family.
