Sean Taylor Dies from Gunshot Wound

Washington Redskins star, Sean Taylor, has died after being shot in the leg on Monday.

Taylor, 24, was the victim of an alleged house intrusion, according to his lawyer, Richard Sharpstein.

Sean TaylorMedics arrived at the scene (Taylor's home) and Sean was airlifted to hospital following the shooting.

The bullet, which landed in Taylor's leg, damaged an artery, causing traumatic blood loss and loss of consciousness.

Those treating Taylor were hopeful for recovery after Sean squeezed the nurse's hand late Monday night. Unfortunately, he never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead earlier this morning at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.

According to Miami-Dade police, the gunman has not been caught.

''It's still early in the investigation and homicide detectives are still working this case,'' police spokesman Robert Williams said today. "They're seeking anyone that will be able to help us, anyone that might have seen or heard anything is urged to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 30-471-TIPS."

Sharpstein referred to his client's death as "a tragic, horrible, unnecessary death -- another example of the incessant violence in this city and this country."
