Patrick Swayze to Suffer Same Fate as Michael Landon?
Michael LandonAnd as many of us pray for Swayze and his family, the heartbreaking truth of this tragic disease becomes more and more of a reality.
While we sincerely hope that Patrick can beat the disease, pancreatic cancer (especially if it spreads to other organs) is said to be one of the deadliest cancers in the world.
Little House on the Prairie actor Michael Landon suffered from the same type of cancer as Swayze and ultimately lost his life a few months after being diagnosed.
Landon, diagnosed with adenocarcinoma (an inoperable pancreatic cancer) in April of 1991, lived just a few months after learning of his illness. By the time he was diagnosed in April the cancer had already spread to his liver and lymph nodes and on July 1, 1991 Michael died at age 54.
Fortunately for Swayze, they may have found the cancer before it had a chance to spread. And considering his doctor said Patrick "has a very limited amount of disease," he may have a considerably better chance of fighting it than Landon.
World renowned opera singer, Luciano Pavarotti was also diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but lived significantly longer than most people diagnosed with the sickness. Pavarotti learned of his disease in July of 2006 and fought for his life for over a year but ultimately succumbed to the disease in September of 2007.
Hopefully Patrick can fight the cancer 100 percent and ultimately live a long, healthy life.
If nothing else, this unfortunate news should bring awareness to the reality of this deadly disease and the importance of finding a cure.
