Patrick Swayze and Wife Lisa Niemi Staying Strong!

News that Hollywood actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer since January sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry yesterday.

An outpouring of support and respect for the 55-year-old star, who played alongside Jennifer Grey in the hit movie Dirty Dancing, was released as fans tried to absorb the tragic news.

"Actor Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is currently undergoing treatment," his rep said in a statement yesterday.

"Patrick's physician Dr. George Fisher states, 'Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.'"

Patrick and Lisa have been married since 1975 - a miracle when it comes to Hollywood marriages - but never had any children throughout their 33 year marriage.

Patrick and Lisa are staying strong, despite Swayze's diagnosis.

The happy couple met when Lisa was 15 and, ironically enough, taking dance lessons with Patrick's mom.
