Michelle Williams Puts Career on Hold to Grieve Heath Ledger’s Death

Millions of people were shocked and devastated upon hearing the news of Heath Ledger's tragic death last week but for those close to the actor, like his ex-fiancé Michelle Williams, there are no words to explain the hurt they've been going through.

Michelle and Heath were together for three years (and engaged) before they decided to split in late August/early September of 2007. The former couple also shares a 2-year-old daughter named Matilda.

When asked about the death, the humble actress said she was "devastated."

Michelle has yet to release a formal statement in regards to the news, and many believe she will refrain from ever doing so as she's never been one to horde the spotlight.

The movie Williams was filming when she was informed of Heath's death has been put on hold in order to give the actress time to grieve.

A source connected with the film released this statement:

"We will hold off until she is ready. The production is in the process of sorting it out in respect to her.

"We're hoping she will still come back and do the film and are happy to wait," the source says. "The film is tailor made for those two (Michelle and her co-star, Ryan Gosling) so of course we would want to wait. You can't get much better than them."
