Kanye West’s Mom Dies Post-Surgery

Kanye West/ Donda West: Photo Credit: WENNKanye West's worst nightmare became reality on Saturday when he got the call that his mother, Donda West, had passed away after complications from cosmetic surgery.

Donda's publicist confirmed that the death was "the result of complications from a cosmetic surgical procedure."

A more recent statement (according to RWDmag.com) also revealed that the 58-year-old was undergoing plastic surgery (more specifically, a stomach procedure) at the time of her death. 

Kanye's spokesman also released a short statement stating that the family "asks for privacy during this time of grief."

The 30-year-old rapper and his mother were very close.

Donda was inspiration for Kanye's hit single Hey Mama, which featured lyrics like "I wanna scream so loud for you, cuz I'm so proud of you ... I appreciate what you allowed for me. I just want you to be proud of me."

Kanye was filming a new music video when he received the news.
