Just days ago, the 29-year-old musician was reportedly dating Mandy Moore. John and Mandy were seen canoodling in Soho, sparking rumors of a potential relationship.

But after Mandy's rep insisted the two were just friends, the rumors fizzled quickly, leaving John desperate to find another Hollywood hottie.

Luckily for Mayer, his charm and good looks seem to have caught the eye of yet another Tinsel Town starlet.

It seems 34-year-old Cameron Diaz has a thing for musicians. Who knew?

Cameron, who recently ended her four-year relationship with Justin Timberlake, has been friends with John for quite some time but the two were never rumored to be dating - until now, that is.

The pair recently met up for an exclusive night in New York and it appears the two may be destined for more than just friendship.    

A source from US Weekly reveals why the dynamic duo may be headed for Couplesville.

"This was technically not their first time hanging out . . . they've hung out together with friends before. But this was the first time together like this. It's new and developing . . . but they really like each other and it went well."

A lot can change in a few days.
