Despite the ongoing writer's strike -- which has temporarily stopped production on some of the most popular television shows -- some of the world's most respected actors, actresses and musicians came together last night for the annual American Music Awards.

Jimmy Kimmel, the host of last night's show, has been directly affected by the strike and did not hesitate to send his support to his writers and all of the other men and women affected by the walkout.

But on a more positive note, the night was a true success with incredibly hot performances by Rihanna, Rascal Flatts, Celine Dion and many more.

The most surprising duet of the night goes to Sugarland and Beyonce, who performed a truly unique rendition of Beyonce's smash hit, Irreplaceable - making one of the most memorable duets since Elton John and Eminem's performance in the 2001 Grammys.

Some of the big winners of the night include our girl, Carrie Underwood, who won an award for favorite country female artist, favorite country album, and T-Mobile's text in award, as well as fellow American Idol  star, Daughtry, who took home a whopping four awards.
