Heidi Montag Hills Costars Lend their Support After Step Brother's Death

Heidi Montag was shocked when she heard the news that her step brother, Eric O'Hara, had been killed after falling off an icy roof while working just over a week and a half ago.

Montag, who's father married O'Hara's mother, released a statement immediately following the tragic news.

"Losing my brother, at an early age, is such a tragedy. I just loved him more than anything.

And while Heidi has had her fair share of controversy with her Hills costars (particularly Lauren and Audrina), most of her friends were there to lend their support after hearing the news.

"I actually texted her," Heidi's costar Audrina Patridge told PEOPLE. "It was really sad. She must be going through a hard time."

And when asked if she'd ever met Heidi's step brother, Audrina told the magazine the following:

"I always used to hear her talk about him. So I knew of him. But I never knew him."

Heidi's other costar, Whitney Port, also called Heidi to make sure she was okay.

There's no word on whether Heidi's former best friend (and Hills costar) Lauren Conrad has contacted Montag since hearing of the news
