Heath Ledger Death Tearing Jake Gyllenhaal Apart

Friends and family of actor Heath Ledger have been in mourning the past few weeks after learning of the untimely death of the 28-year-old. Heath's mom, dad, older sister and ex-fiancee Michelle Williams have all released statements in regards to the tragic incident but no one has heard directly from Heath's best friend, Jake Gyllenhaal.

Jake and Heath had been great friends for years and were so close that Heath and Michelle asked the humble actor to be the godfather of their daughter Matilda (now two years old).

A source told OK! magazine the following:

 "Jake's not snapping out of the shock. He's a pretty upbeat guy, and this is tearing him apart.

"He really bonded with Heath and said nothing but amazing things about him as an actor and as a person. I bet he wishes he had known how bad things were... but there's only so much a person can do."

Jake missed both of the LA memorial services held for Heath and has not said whether or not he will be attending Heath's funeral later this week.

Celebrities like Ellen DeGeneres, Katie Holmes, Tom Cruise, Helena Christensen and Naomi Watts have all expressed their feeling during this difficult.
