Britney Spears vs. Dr. Phil – Celebrity Smack Down!

Dr. Phil's attempt to help Britney Spears this past weekend not only has the 26-year-old pop tart furious but has also struck a chord with psychiatrists who think Dr. Phil's surprise appearance at the hospital was uncalled for.

According to TMZ.com, eight psychiatrists following the Spears case think that Dr. Phil's visit to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center last week was "intrusive and inappropriate."

According to experts, the hospital "is supposed to be a safe place. If the patient doesn't want to see someone, that person doesn't get in -- period."

And Dr. Phil was not admitted by Britney's request but, rather, by the request of her family - who, with the exception of Brit's dad, Jamie, didn't even bother showing up at the hospital to lend their support.

When Dr. Phil entered the room, Britney was clearly agitated - as anyone would be when dealing with so much stress.

The bottom line remains that Britney did not want to see Dr. Phil and it was the hospital's responsibility to make sure he wasn't allowed in.

Maybe Brit-Brit should make a surprise appearance on the set of Dr. Phil.

Then he'd really call her crazy!
