Britney Spears Shows Up For Court – Better Late than Never?

Britney Spears has finally showed up for her very important court hearing today - although being a couple of hours late probably won't impress the judge.

Today's hearing was scheduled so that Brit-Brit could defend her actions on January 3, when she held her youngest son, Jayden James, hostage in her LA home and refused to return him to his daddy.

Britney Spears: Photo Credit: WENNIt was at that time that police officers forced the pop tart to Cedars-Sinai hospital because she was displaying suspicious behavior. The escapade has now been dubbed a mental breakdown.

Regardless of her past mistakes, showing up at today's court hearing (late or not) is a good indication to the courts that Britney is taking the situation seriously.

The 26-year-old singer entered the courthouse through a back entrance, in an effort to avoid the swarms of paparazzi anxiously awaiting her arrival.

Well, at least she's there now...how the rest of the hearing will go is still up in the air.

Update: Reports claim that Brit entered the courthouse and left within 5 minutes. She is said to be eating at a restaurant near the courthouse. We'll keep you posted...
