Britney Spears “A Danger to Herself and Others”

If you're as out of control as Britney Spears, the hospital is the best place for you - and that's where the pop tart will remain, at least until doctors feel she's stable enough to leave.

Britney is currently being held at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles where doctors indicate that the 26-year-old mom is on a 5150 hold.

Patients are put on this type of hold when doctors feel as though they are a danger to themselves and others.

It appears that the doctors working with Brit-Brit are hesitant to release the pop wreck because her behavior is still unstable.

An insider told TMZ.com that Britney's behavior is not typical of a person on drugs or alcohol but resembles more of the behavioral traits found in a mental patient.

It is possible that her actions were not intentional (as in, she didn't crack open a bottle of vodka and chug it with her kids in the room) and that Spears actually suffers from a mental disorder that is beyond her control.

Guess we'll find out when the evaluation results come in.

At this point in time, a mental disorder is probably the best case scenario.

At least then we'd know that Brit-Brit wasn't intentionally putting her kids in danger.  

UPDATE: Sources from PEOPLE have confirmed that Britney has been put on a 72-hour lockdown for mental evaluation.
