Britney Spears' Family Furious at Dr. Phil!

Lou Taylor, spokesperson for Britney's mom Lynne and sister Jamie, not only dubbed the whole situation as a selfish act by the doctor but also claimed that his public statements regarding the case have "compromised" their relationship with the pop tart.

Lynne SpearsTaylor confirms that Dr. Phil was asked by family members to visit Ms. Spears in the hospital but claims they are furious that he's made the situation so public.

Dr. Phil released this statement to Entertainment Tonight after meeting with Britney over the weekend:

"My meeting with Britney and some of her family members this morning in her room at Cedars leaves me convinced more than ever that she is in dire need of medical and psychological intervention . "

But Momma Lynne is furious that McGraw even made a public statement in the first place.

"What's wrong with Dr. Phil's statement," Taylor asked while appearing on the Today show with Meredith Vieira, "is that he made a statement."

Taylor goes onto imply that Dr. Phil violated their trust and used the whole incident as a way to gain publicity.

"The family, basically, extended an invitation of trust for him to come in as a resource to support them, not to go out and make public statements.

"He was not invited to make this part of a public display or part of the media."
