Brad Pitt and Bill Clinton Team Up to Rebuild New Orleans
Brad Pitt: Photo Credit: WENNPitt has donated $5 million to his Make It Right foundation, which will build environmentally friendly homes for residents of New Orleans' Lower 9th Ward.
In December, Pitt announced that he wanted the first 150 homes built by summer of 2008. Today, he is sticking firm to his initial plans, insisting on significant progress in the upcoming months.
"We hope to see a huge change here in the next six months," Pitt revealed as he posed for pictures and signed autographs for local residents.
And while Clinton refused direct interviews with several media representatives, he did release this message in regards to Pitt's initiatives.
"It is only fitting that we culminate a weekend focused on youth service by turning words into action."
Pitt and Clinton shook hands and continued to chat with the hundreds of volunteers who gathered over the weekend to prepare the grounds for building.
The dedicated group worked for hours, clearing the grass and weeds that were covering the streets, sidewalks and drains.
Pitt hopes to secure a significant amount of volunteers to help in the upcoming months.
